Our Dance Classes
Our certified instructors teach a comprehensive range of dance styles, each designed to meet the developmental needs of young dancers at different skill levels.
Ballet: Ages 6-18
Ballet establishes the foundation for nearly every dance style. In our ballet classes, students develop strength, grace, and precise technique through structured progressions that match their physical development. We teach proper turnout, alignment, and classical vocabulary while building discipline that extends beyond the studio. Many of our ballet students have gone on to perform with regional companies and earn scholarships to prestigious dance programs.
Pointe: Invitation Only
Our pointe program represents the pinnacle of classical ballet training. This advanced technique requires exceptional ankle strength, core stability, and proper alignment. Because student safety is our top priority, we carefully assess each dancer’s readiness—typically after several years of consistent ballet training—before extending an invitation to join this program.
Jazz: Ages 6-18
Jazz dance classes combine sharp isolations, dynamic energy, and expressive storytelling. Students learn to master quick footwork, leaps, and turns while developing stage presence. Our jazz curriculum incorporates techniques from Broadway, contemporary jazz, and traditional styles, preparing dancers for auditions and performances.
Hip Hop: All Ages
Hip-hop classes celebrate self-expression through street-style movement. Dancers explore freestyle techniques, develop rhythm and coordination, and build confidence in a high-energy atmosphere. We teach age-appropriate choreography that respects hip-hop’s cultural roots while keeping content suitable for young dancers.
“My daughter has been attending Dance Makers for a little over 4 years. It has been a pleasure working with the administrators, staff and dance instructors. Dance Makers has given my daughter the opportunity and confidence she needed with dancing and WE THANK THEM FOR THAT.” – Michelle S.
Lyrical/Contemporary: Ages 6-18
Lyrical dance beautifully blends ballet technique with emotional storytelling. Students learn to interpret music through fluid, expressive movements that convey feeling and artistry. This style helps dancers connect deeply with their emotions while maintaining technical proficiency in turns, extensions, and floor work.
Tap: Ages 6-18
Tap dancing turns dancers into musicians as they create rhythms with their feet. Students develop timing, coordination, and musicality as they learn classic tap techniques from Broadway and rhythm tap traditions. We start with basic sounds and progress to complex combinations and improvisation.
Kinderdanz: Ages 3-5
Our Kinderdanz program introduces young children to movement fundamentals in a playful, developmentally appropriate setting. Children learn basic dance vocabulary, practice following multi-step instructions, and develop gross motor skills alongside their peers. This class builds the focus and body awareness needed for future dance training.
Totz Town: Ages 18 Months to 2 Years
Totz Town welcomes our youngest dancers through parent-and-me-style programs. Toddlers explore coordination through Tumble Tots floor exercises or discover ballet basics in our Twinkle Toes and Tutus class. Both programs use music, props, and guided movement to develop early coordination skills.
“Both of my daughters have been enrolled in Dance Makers for a few years now in different classes. The entire staff is super warm, welcoming and friendly. The instructors are very nurturing to all of the kids and are very involved and encourage the kids to do their absolute best.” – Janel H.
